Neen Sapalo
Neen Sapalo is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow. She has previously held positions as Research Consultant for SEARICE, and Consultant for the BAYAN Academy/I Love Foundation. Her research interests include Critical Anthropology of Home, Urban Social Justice, and Engaged Research. She currently holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Developmental Studies from the University of the Philippines and a Masters Degree in Anthropology from the same university. David Jonathan Garcia
David Garcia is a self-employed map maker with several years of experience in the cartography/GIS industry. He has previously worked as Geographer and Urban Planner for The Asia Foundation and as GIS Researcher and Cartographer for London School of Economics and Political Science. He is currently undertaking his PhD studies at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. When not working, he volunteers his free time for open source mapping initiatives such as the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT). Fara Manuel
Fara Martia Manuel-Nolasco explores participatory mapping & archiving experience of urban space with the perspective of a member of Baguio’s local mountain biking collective. Fara proposes a possible connection between trail-riding & a universal philosophy of deep ecology –a synthesis of her MFA thesis, “Baguio by Bike: Towards a Vernacular Intermedia Mapping of Place,” & an ongoing study, “Outdoor love: Shaping Urban Experience Through Cycling & Baguio-style friluftsliv.” |
Jimmy Jr. Corong
Jimmy is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Geography. His interests in geography are in physical geography, climatology, geomorophology and biogeography. He is also a graduate of Master of Science in Meteorology from the Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology, University of the Philippines-Diliman. For now he is interested in coupled ocean-land-atmosphere processes. He believes that studying weather and climate is incomplete if the interaction of ocean-land-atmosphere are not well represented. |

Mylene T. De Guzman
Mylene T. De Guzman is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography, College of Social Science and Philosophy, University of the Philippines - Diliman. She has earned both her BSc degree (cum laude) and her MSc degree in Geography from the same university. She has also served as a research fellow in the Asia Research Institute in the National University of Singapore, where she worked on research on sexual orientation-based discrimination in call centers in the Philippines. Her current research interests include labor geographies, gender geographies, geographies of identities, and health geographies. She is currently the Vice President for Externals, Projects, and Campaigns of Youth Against Sexual Harassment (YASH), a women's organization that aims to combat sexual harassment, and other forms of abuse against women. She is also serving as the Vice President for Internal Affairs for the Philippine Geographical Society (PGS), and she is an active member of the American Association of Geographers (AAG). She is currently involved in the UP Diliman Analytical Transaction Online System (UP DATOS) project, which aims to bridge the disparate information systems in UP Diliman. |
Xara Joy Villavicencio
As a certified CompTIA classroom trainer, Xara has been educating clients and imparting her extensive knowledge for several years. She has played an instrumental role in the development of tailored GIS systems for a broad variety of clients in the government and private sectors. An ArcGIS for Desktop specialist, Xara enjoys exploring the emerging areas of 3D and Web GIS as well as their applications in urban planning and cityscapes. |
Carla Alessandra Anna Dario
Carlie Dario is a scientist by profession, educator by heart and manager/planner by practice. In the last 8 years she's worked as a educational program officer/manager for various non-profit organizations such as The Law of Nature Foundation and The Mind Museum and transitioned into the academe such as the University of the Philippines and the University of Queensland working as a spatial analyst for marine conservation and management projects. Carlie is previously a USAID-STRIDE scholar who holds a Masters of Professional Science degree in Marine Conservation from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami. She is currently back in the University of Miami pursuing an interdisciplinary PhD in Environmental Science and Policy. When not working, Carlie is seen traveling, eating, doing yoga, or making friends who she will eventually amuse and annoy about the weirdest ocean creatures and random science memes. Rienzi Valesco
Mr. Velasco has been working these past 4 years as a GIS Expert for various projects for the Philippine government and other organizations such as the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for projects like the Mega Manila Subway, the Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement, and the Parañaque Spillway. He is currently working under the Integrated Flood Risk Management Sector Project (IFRMSP) of the ADB and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). He also served as one of the Directors of the Council of Engineering Consultants of the Philippines – Young Professionals Forum (Cecophil–YPF) back in 2016. He specializes in mapping, cartography and GIS consultancy, with more focus on projects and research involving urban planning, telecommunications, inland water bodies, reforestation and the agricultural sector. He’s passionate about anything related with maps and how these can be used to help achieve a more geo-literate Philippines. |
Henri Glo
Henri Glo is a Senior Copywriter in Nuworks, a digital ad agency. A geographer turned creative, he uses his knowledge in the social sciences to create innovative solutions in the world of marketing. Glo’s work has been recognized and shortlisted in award shows including Kidlat and AdStars. He’s also participated in competitions in and out of the country including Young Kidlat, Young Cannes Cyber Lions, and AdStars. Jasmin Consuelo Urquico
Jasmine Consuelo Urquico-Zialcita is an instructor at the National Institute of Geological Sciences where she prepares instructional materials and laboratory work for undergraduate students. She has co-authored several articles on regional geology of the Caramoan Peninsula, Camarines Sur, and Surigao Del Sur. Ben Hur Pintor
Ben Hur Pintor is a geospatial generalist, open source and open data advocate, and a maptivist. He has held several positions relating to Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, as well as web development. He is presently working as the Data Training Lead of the Open Knowledge Foundation and the Chief Technology and Strategy Officer of SmartCT. As an open source and open data advocate, his goal is to provide best-fit, cost-effective, and sustainable solutions to data and spatial problems using open technologies. He is currently the Chief Problem Solver of BNHR where he offers consultations, trainings, as well as cartography services using open source applications. Some of his contributions to the GIS Community includes Open Hazards PH - a QGIS plugin that lets users load geospatial hazard data created by various agencies in the Philippines - and Bite-Sized QGIS - short, focused, and hands-on online courses designed to teach QGIS. |
